The Skipper's Guide Book
The Skipper's Guide is in its fifteenth year. Initially a "one-off" publication that provided local services and marine information for boat owners. 15 years later and it is as popular as ever. There is no charge made for the guide but a Donation is requested to raise funds that go directly to the RNLI. The general background was to create a handy book that could be stored on-board and be a useful reference for marinas to visit. The current guides include information on MDL marinas, Gallions Point Marina, Ramsgate Marina, Ipswch Marina, Lowestoft Marina, Fambridge Yachthaven and many more. The Skippers Guide expanded and now covers the coastline from Great Yarmouth to Littlehampton (including the Thames). Whilst not a navigational pilot, the guides do give useful information such as:- what to do and who to contact when you visit a new harbour, where to moor and places to have a meal or get your boat repaired. The Guides should be available in local boatyards, boating clubs, marinas, chandlers and other marine based organisations. Another publication is being prepared for 2011 so look out for the new distribution dates.
