NEW TITLES AT THE PSP SOUTHAMPTON BOAT SHOW 2012

Posted on : 10/09/2012

The RYA will be unveiling two new publications at the PSP Southampton Boat Show on Saturday 15 September; RYA Yacht Sailing Techniques and RYA Day Skipper Handbook – Sail and if you purchase a copy of either title you could be the winner of a fantastic prize!

At 12.00 RYA Yacht Sailing Techniques author Jeremy Evans will be joining the RYA Publications team on the RYA stand (EO37) to tell us more about the book which as the title says, provides a basic overview of yacht sailing techniques.

This is the fifth book written for the RYA by Jeremy Evans, a highly respected boating journalist, photographer and author and illustrates the basic skills that a skipper and crew require to enjoy cruising in good conditions. It covers the layout and equipment on a small to medium sized yacht, the essential safety information that all need to know before getting underway, basic maintenance, manoeuvring in a marina, handling under sail, anchoring and mooring, and, of course, man overboard rescue strategy.

Join us on the RYA stand for a glass of bubbly and to hear more from Jeremy and pose your questions to him.

The bubbly will be out again at 14.30 (RYA stand EO37) when we will officially launch the new RYA Day Skipper Handbook – Sail joined by author Sara Hopkinson.

Join us to hear more about this new must read title for anyone studying for RYA Day Skipper courses or looking to brush up on their knowledge.

It covers all the theoretical and practical aspects of the RYA Day Skipper Sail syllabus and gives you all you need to know to take a small yacht on a short passage safely in three logical sections – practical skills, navigation and passage making and safety.

As well as hearing from the authors and getting the low down on the books there are some fantastic prizes up for grabs in our free prize draws.

Purchase a copy of RYA Day Skipper Handbook – Sail (if you have already pre-ordered or purchased a copy of any of titles you will also be automatically entered in to the draws) and you could be in with a chance of winning a free five day (Sunday-Friday) RYA Day Skipper Practical Course, courtesy of Hamble School of Yachting (closing date 31 October 2012).

“We are extremely excited about launching these new titles at this years’ show.  We hope that people will come and join us on the stand, see what they are all about for themselves, ask questions of the team and authors and give us their feedback” commented Steen Ingerslev, RYA Publications Manager.
