Businesses Show Support For Broads
Posted on : 08/09/2012
Businesses on the Norfolk Broads are showing support for the Area with a new scheme that encourages Visitors to raise funds.
It is called 'Love The Broads'. ...... Rather fittingly.
It is a simple scheme whereby visitors can give a bit extra after enjoying their stay. Options to pay the money will be available when hiring a boat or cycle, having a meal or drink and there will be collection boxes for a straight forward donation. The campaign’s logo – a large heart in a circle – appears on badges that can also be bought to boost funds.
It is an independent charity setup by the Broads Authority with Money from the European Regional Development Fund. The scheme will be administered by the Norfolk & Suffolk Broads Charitable Trust.
Businesses supporting the scheme already include the Norfolk Broads Direct, Broadland Cycle Hire, Richardson’s Group, Wroxham Barns, the Dairy Barns at Hickling, Clippesby Hall, Bank Boats and Horning Ferry Marina.
The Trust aims to raise £5,000 in the first year with a number of projects likely to benefit including a scheme to set up a sculpture trail at Strumpshaw Fen with workshops to teach youngsters about nature, signage for Broads cycling routes and a scheme to stop the decline in the water vole population in the Broads.
