British Championship battle heads to Bodymoor
Posted on : 12/07/2012
This weekend (14/15 July) sees the 2012 Powerboat GP British RYA Circuit Championship move to Bodymoor Heath in Kingsbury Water Park for the 4th round of the competition being hosted by Midlands Powerboat Racing Club.
In excess of 40 teams of competitors are expected to head to the event in search of vital points in the six 2012 championship classes. Amongst the classes in action will be the Hydroplanes which will see the first championship outing for these plucky drivers that skim across the water with their faces inches from the surface at speeds of around 80mph.
Also in battle will be the OSY400 class where 2011 British Champion Luke Hugman of Lowestoft will look to extend his lead in the British Championship and use the time as valuable practice for the forthcoming UIM World Championships in Germany at the beginning of next month.
Teams will be eager to get the competition back underway following disappointment at the Powerboat GP Cardiff Bay Grand Prix that saw organisers forced to make the decision to cancel the event due to bad weather.
Racing will take place from 10am both days this weekend as all six classes battle it out in three heats for championship points in what promises to be some fantastic on water action.
