470 Dinghy Sailors With Medal Chances
Posted on : 10/08/2012
Great Britains 470 Olympic Dinghy Sailors will be racing for Olympic Medals on friday as the final medal races take place at the Weymouth Olympic Sailing Regatta.
Dinghy Sailors Luke Patience and Stuart Bithell will be up first in the mens event, to be followed by Hannah Mills and Saskia Clark in the Women's.
Hannah Mills and Saskia Clark are on level terms with the New Zealand Boat with Luke Patience and Stuart Bithell reported as being mathematically assured of Silver but ready to fight for Gold with the Australian Boat. The Silver assumes that they are not disqualified or black flagged!
So a tense and exciting day is assured down at Weymouth. Great Britains Medal success could be increased if all goes as hoped. The total of 25 Gold Medals is somewhat impressive when compared to the population and a real credit.
As an aside, Race Management and Royal Navy patrols have reported that a couple of spectator craft attempted to get too close to the racing in recent days. Over exuberance and no threat to security but the boats in question are believed to have been reported.
