Advertising with the Skipper's Guide

Advertising opportunities are available in both the magazine publications and also on our website.

Magazine Advertising

The Skippers Guide Magazines are currently published every year and cover the Southeast and East Anglia areas of England. Each year has seen a growing readership and this year (2011) we are anticipating that circulation will reach 10,000 copies. The original founders of the guides (Jenny and Terry) found that they were unable to find any publications that gathered together all the local marine companies in their area. The first guide was so popular that demand dictated fresh versions every year . The same format still remains today although they are somewhat bigger. The guides are eagerly awaited as many of our readers see them as useful reference points for marine goods and services as well as information and a good general read. We find that the guides are invariably kept for the whole season either onboard or ashore and are thus ready (and to hand) when required. The guide is circulated to boat owners and the public via sailing & boat clubs, yards, marinas and other marine outlets. Thus the advertising is targeted at the customers who really matter i.e your local boating community. And remember that we do ask our readers for a minimum donation (£1) to the RNLI which thus helps a good cause.

Advertising in the published magazines is divided into two types:

Directory Advertising –These are standard third page directory adverts which are in black and white. The adverts are arranged in sections according to the trade or service i.e Brokers, Repairers, chandlers etc…

Book Advertising – Colour adverts are also available in the editorial book section. Various sizes are possible including Full, Half and third pages.

Website Advertising

The Web Site is available for advertising throughout the year. By updating the website regularly with articles of news, features and interest we are able to enhance the reputation of the Skipper’s Guide further and generate an even wider readership. Companies are able to place web banners on our pages which will link directly to their own web sites. We are also able to run features or write articles on particular advertisers and more particularly on goods & services or aspects of boating which can then link in with our advertisers more closely. By working closely with our advertisers we are able to maximise this opportunity and help generate more web traffic and thus more potential customers.

We have some prominent locations for this type of advertising and can discuss these opportunities. We will also be running features but would be happy to hear of any ideas or suggestions that might be of benefit.
